1.) What is CBD?
CBD stands for Cannabidiol, one of many naturally- occurring components found in cannabis called Cannabinoids. These cannabinoids are also found naturally occurring in our bodies. There are over 100 cannabinoids found in different strains of cannabis and our bodies respond to them similarly to the cannabinoids we make naturally. Cannabidiol (CBD) is devoid of any psychoactive effect and THC is the only cannabinoid known to have any psychoactive effect. After THC (Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is by far the most studied natural cannabinoid.
If you search for it online, you will find patent number 6,630,507 states unequivocally that cannabinoids are useful in the prevention and treatment of a wide variety of diseases including auto-immune disorders, stroke, trauma, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and HIV dementia. This patent, awarded in 2003, is based on research done by the National Institute of Health, and is assigned to the US Dept. of Health and Human Services. That’s right, the US Government has had a patent on CBD for over 15 years!
2.) How does CBD interact with our body and is it safe?
Not only do mammals make cannabinoids naturally in our bodies, we also have receptors all throughout our bodies looking for cannabinoids. We have two major cannabinoid receptors, the CB1 and the CB2 receptors, and these receptors are found in the brain, the nervous system, the immune system, the lymphatic system, the digestive system, in all major organs, as well as throughout our skin. Collectively we call this our Endocannabinoid System.
We all have an Endocannabinoid system and it’s importance is in supporting every self-regulatory function in our bodies. In other words, our Endocannabinoid System helps us to maintain balance and homeostasis. We naturally produce different cannabinoids in our bodies, however due to stress, toxins and other factors we can easily be deficient in our natural production of cannabinoids. When we use CBD oil we are supporting our Endocannabinoid System with Cannabinoid Therapy. The effect of CBD on these receptors has been well researched and shows that CBD stimulates the internal production of our own natural cannabinoids, and strengthens our whole Endocannabinoid System.
The human body was clearly built for cannabinoids, and we are only just beginning to understand the details and importance of this system. It is well established in the medical community that these nutritive substances (cannabinoids) play a critical role in protecting cells against disease, boosting immune function, protecting the brain and nervous system, and relieving pain and disease-causing inflammation, among other things. Cell membranes in the body are naturally equipped with cannabinoid receptors which, when activated by our endocannabinoids, and various other nutritive substances, protect cells against viruses, harmful bacteria, etc… It has been well documented that human breast milk is an abundant source of endocannabinoids, (cannabinoids made by our bodies). Cannabis is the ONLY known source of abundant cannabinoids other than those made by humans and most other animals. Our cannabinoid receptors are also activated when these cannabinoids are introduced.
The Endocannabinoid system is intricately linked to our nervous system and immune system, as well as our brain and digestion. Therefore by stimulating and strengthening the Endocannabinoid system through the introduction of CBD into the body, there may potentially be a wide range of effects. Wikipedia does a good job in great detail, explaining CBD and it’s effects on the Endocannabinoid system: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endocannabinoid_system
As stated previously, Cannabidiol (CBD) is naturally occurring in our bodies and is naturally present in healthy mothers breast milk. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no reports of serious side effects from CBD. CBD is widely considered one of the safest dietary supplements available, with no known allergies or ill effects. If taking medications always get your doctors advise.
3.) What are the legalities around CBD?
All True CBD Hemp Oil products are grown in Kentucky and 100% legal to consume, sell, and possess in all fifty states of the US and in many other countries. Hemp oil is a dietary supplement that is permitted for use in or as a dietary supplement. The 2018 Farm Bill officially reclassifies hemp for commercial uses after decades of statutes and legal enforcement conflating hemp and marijuana, the Farm Bill distinguishes between the two by removing hemp from the Controlled Substances Act. (While the two are closely related, hemp lacks the high concentration of THC that is responsible for the high from smoking marijuana.) The legal distinction is made by the amount of THC present.
As for testing positive for THC on drug screens, the amount of THC present is below the legal threshold of .3% which is set so that people using these products won’t tip the scale and create false positives for THC. We test every batch to ensure that the levels of THC are below that legal threshold and as a result we have not had an issue with our product creating a false positive. Not once, in over 5 years! Please use with confidence and in good health.
As long as the amount of THC in the plant is below .3% it is considered Hemp and it is legal. We only offer 100% US Organically Grown Kentucky Hemp Oil!! This hemp is grown in accordance with the 2018 Farm Bill under direct contract with the Federal Government and is legal and exempt from marijuana and THC laws.
4.) How does True CBD Hemp Oil compare to Rick Simpson Oil?
Rick Simpson Oil actually refers to a method of extraction, NOT a specific product. The Rick Simpson method can be used with any number of different strains of marijuana, so the THC and CBD content is always varying greatly, depending on the marijuana being used. Usually Rick Simpson oil is a variety of marijuana with a very low CBD content (and high THC), because that’s what most of the marijuana is. In states where growing marijuana is legal, many people are making there own marijuana oil blends using this Rick Simpson method; typically produced by filling a cylindrical glass or stainless steel canister and flooding the canister with a solvent — usually butane — that strips the plant matter of its cannabinoid-containing oils. The resulting mixture of psychotropic plant oil and chemicals is then purified to remove traces of the solvent.
One common method of butane removal includes boiling it off in a hot water bath, while another involves the use of a vacuum pump and vacuum chamber to lower butane’s boiling point, pulling butane from the oil. This unregulated and sometimes very dangerous practice has created enormous amounts of awareness regarding the benefits of cannabinoids. Countless testimonials show that when done correctly, and in a controlled environment, this method can produce a safe and effective oil. Unfortunately it has also created lots of confusion and misunderstanding due to its lack of standardization. EVERYONE IS USING DIFFERENT STRAINS OF MARIJUANA. The amount of cannabinoids differ from plant to plant and the ratios of THC/CBD are totally inconsistent. This results in a lack of potency and consistency. Trace amounts of pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, as well as butane and or other solvents not completely cooked off can reside. There is NO oversight or testing being done, creating a large potential for contamination. The levels of THC are almost always to high to be legal on a Federal level, or in states where marijuana is still illegal.
Needless to say, for most people this is not a very good option. The CBD we use in True CBD Hemp Oil is from full spectrum organic ethanol extraction of whole plant hemp grown in Kentucky, USA under federal regulations and in accordance with the 2018 US Farm Bill; (350mg, 1100mg, and 2400mg bottles). True CBD Hemp Oil comes from hemp that is naturally high in cannabidiol (CBD), so the extracts consistently have a high amount of CBD and only trace amounts of THC. True CBD Hemp Oil is highly standardized and lab tested, to verify for purity, and to ensure that the CBD content is consistent and true!
5.)How do I know how much CBD to take and how do I take it?
Specific dosing suggestions for specific health concerns can only be given legally by a certified health care provider. We can give some general guidelines that have proved useful for many customers over the years.
- start low and work your way up until you find an effective dose “your dose.”
- use “your dose” as needed. As needed is very much determined by you.
- “as needed” could be once a day, could be 4 times in an hour. As needed means as needed.
- often the longer you use True CBD Hemp Oil the less you will need to get the same benefit
- usually better to take smaller doses more frequently than one large dose
- using True CBD Hemp Oil topically and sublingually is usually the best method for maximum benefit.
- sublingual use: hold under your tongue or swish around your mouth for at least 30 seconds. Can follow with anything.
- topical use: massage 2-3 drops (or more) anywhere on your skin (avoid eyes).
- when choosing which bottle to start with, we suggest that you consider the 350mg or the 1100mg strengths.
Please understand that the same dose can be achieved with any of the bottles, for example; to match 10 drops of the 1100mg bottle, you would only need to take 4 drops of the 2400mg bottle.
5.) How do I learn more about CBD’s?
There is a tremendous amount of information available online, unfortunately sifting through the hype and marketing can be challenging to say the least. We highly encourage you to avoid searching “CBD” and instead do your own research by searching for information about “The Endocannabinoid System” and “Cannabinoid Support.” PubMed has over 1500 published studies on CBD and is another good resource.
Email Blasts and Facebook Links selling you CBD are almost always a SCAM, instead ask your friends and family about CBD. You just might be surprised to learn that they are also researching CBD right now! Of course we are always available to answer your questions as best as we can. Please contact us anytime.
